Yoga and Your Health

The path to health can be gentle.

Yoga

TriYoga is a complete experience, encompassing asanas, pranayama, and meditation.  The Flows enable me to become fully engaged in practice, transferring a tranquility that I carry with me throughout my day.

Through teaching, I am able to share my passion for yoga and guide others, celebrating our humanity and diverse backgrounds.  I have a strong desire to help people realize their inner potential and draw out their best attributes and qualities.

Yoga and its Health Benefits

We all bring something individual to practice and continue to learn from each other.  This allows for progress, for creation and unpredictability, and for the ability to grow and learn and discover through every opportunity.

There are many reasons why a student may have a health complaint and as such, yoga teachers do not diagnose.  Following the practice of ahimsa, we must strive to do no harm.  Many health practitioners now recommend yoga to complement existing treatments.

TriYoga Flows are therapeutic and balancing to the body and mind and also suitable for students with health issues.  Students are encouraged to participate in flows and rest as needed.

Benefits of TriYoga wavelike spinal movements

The wavelike spinal movements benefit the body by increasing the circulation and flow of energy and nutrients to the cells of the body including the spinal discs, and aiding in the proper functioning of the lymphatic system.  This maintains healthy joints while toning the muscles throughout the body, strengthening the body, preventing degeneration of the tissues, bones, and organs.

The improved spine becomes strong and flexible.  The spinal wavelike movements strengthen the back muscles as they lengthen, expand, and contract during each movement.  The spine lengthens as it is better supported and space is created between each vertebra, improving posture and alignment.

Additionally, flowing with the breath increases the supply of oxygen to the cells, promotes health, and awareness off the inner flow.  When the student relaxes into the Flow, they experience a sense of inner peace and well-being that enhances awareness and the ability to relax.

  TriYoga is a complete practice

It provides a full range of movements for all joints in the body.  It promotes a balanced approach to yoga and to life by combining proper alignment with strength and flexibility to everyday activities.  When the capacity of all systems and vital organs are maximized, the spine becomes more supple, the improved systems aid in the proper functioning of the cells and organs, and the whole body enhances its ability to function properly.

The range of breathing techniques and the importance of using breath with the Flows maintains a healthy respiratory system and strengthens the heart and lungs.  Improved oxygen supply to the cells carries essential nutrients and improves concentration and cell renewal.  Pranayama invigorates the body and improves mental clarity.

The TriYoga Flows aid concentration, focus, emotional balance, and promote the flow of intuitive knowledge.  Meditation in motion enables the student to practice the essence of the Flows in everyday life, by bringing their mind back to the place of serenity that they experience during the flows.

TriYoga fosters inner and outward peace and nurturing of the whole self.

Meditation

Meditation is a tool that can become a part of your daily life.  Meditation used to be regarded by the medical field with speculation, uncertainty, and even ridicule.  Now many more medical practitioners recommend it.

The health benefits are well documented and thanks to today’s technology, we can now see what happens to the brain and understand why meditation has the effect that it does.

In your day-to-day life, you put into practice what you have learned.  You bring your complete attention to the present, to what is happening at this very moment, and choose to behave in an appropriate way.  This stills the soul, the mind, and the body enabling you to be a positive light in our own life and that of others.

You find the sacred place that lies within you and achieve centeredness and expanded consciousness.

Because you are living in the present, you are always aware of the way people behave and of your responses toward them.  You learn with intention to monitor your reactions and to project thoughts free from judgment, criticism, and hostility.

It is in the quiet moments that you obtain the answers that you seek.  Treasure the silence and wait for your answer in this solitary state.  In this quiet inner place you become aware of your separateness and set yourself apart from your old way of being.  Receiving guidance allows for progress, for creation and unpredictability, and for the ability to grow and learn and discover.

Ultimately, there is no line where daily life ends and spirituality begins; the two are inextricably entwined as you learn how to breathe into, learn from, and surrender to the lessons revealed from within.

TriYoga Flows Help Scoliosis

Scoliosis is lateral curvature of the spine.  TriYoga Flows help this condition by following the natural wave of the spine and maintaining precise alignment between postures.  During Cat Rolls, the spine rolls vertebra by vertebra.  The Flows promote gentle extension and flexion of the spine.  The whole body flows as one posture dissolves into another.

This enhanced flexibility improves the full range of motion in the spine and other joints such as the hips and knees.  The Flows steadily improve coordination and balance, enabling both sides of the body to achieve strength and flexibility equally and the spine to function in a balanced way.

Yoga and Fibromyalgia

According to the National Fibromyalgia Association, fibromyalgia affects 10 million people in America. An article published in Parade magazine, November 13, 2005 interviewed Lynn Matallana, president of the NFA and she listed activities such as water therapy, walking, and yoga as positive forms of exercise to alleviate her symptoms.
